Trieste and Slovene Istria

By October 7, 2011March 21st, 2012No Comments

Zdravo! Thursday my friend Diego and I drove to Italy for some coffee. It’s amazing how close places are around here. Within an hour we were in Trieste, a gorgeous, hilly hodgepodge of architectural styles. Medievil, Austro-hungarian, Venetian, authoritarian modernist and mid-twentieth century communist architecture sit in the uneasy harmony that reflect the city’s erratic history.

Next we headed south along the coast, through Venetian fishing villages, and back in to Slovenia, down the Istrian coast. We stopped just past Isola up on polychromatic green cliffs abundant with vines and groves.
