Exploring Campania: Painting, Drawing, and Mixed-Media in Southern Italy
With Louise Freshman Brown – June 6-13, 2026

Benvenuto! Join us on a voyage to Campania! We will be based at a country villa in Melizzano, Italy. Melizzano is located 35 miles northeast of Naples, nestled within the Taburno Nature Preserve. It’s a picturesque village in the heart of Campania, surrounded by rolling vineyards, ancient olive groves, and breathtaking mountain views. This tranquil setting provides the perfect environment for artistic exploration.

Artistic Experience
The Taburno Nature Preserve, dominated by the Taburno-Camposauro mountain range, is often called the “Sleeping Woman” due to the shape of its peaks. This protected area is rich in diverse landscapes, from dense forests to open meadows, and is home to a variety of plant and animal life. Workshop participants will be encouraged to develop their personal vision through series of drawing and painting processes. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the varied landscapes, century’s old architecture, working in situ. In addition, participants will be encouraged to explore abstraction and figurative techniques, all in the unique environment of Campagna. Sessions will encourage interpretation, focusing on composition, color and value. Individual instruction will be stressed along with interactive group critiques. We will celebrate our successes with an exhibition at the end of the workshop.
