Additional Information
Workshop
As you travel through and photograph the countryside and ancient hill towns of Croatia, you will be collecting materials and memorabilia to assemble for your own personal Travel Journal. Back in the studio we will concentrate on the various methods of integrating our photographs and found objects into the surface of various art papers, cloth, canvas and wood. The intent is to express a visual idea in the form of a unique book with wide creative latitude. Photographic transfers will be made from laser photocopy prints of your images using solvents and acrylics, and then embellished with pencils and paint. Several binding styles and bookmaking methods will be demonstrated and/or discussed. Text methods will be explored - rubbings, rubber stamp, as well as computer generated text. Surface treatments will be introduced such as coating with wax, collage and washes of acrylic or watercolor paint. The workshop will emphasize the photographic image, but is not limited to this and will include other modes of expression - drawing, poetry and found ephemera such as antique illustrations and designs. You will learn skills that you can continue using in art and bookmaking in your home or studio. This workshop is for all levels.
